Tall Ship Kobenhaven 1921 – 1928
Shipping company model in mahogany display case. The Kobenhaven was built in Scotland on the Ramage & Ferguson shipyard and had her maiden voyage in 1921. It was a steel five mast barque and the training ship of the East Asiatic Company. On board were 15 full-fledged sailors and 45 young cadets under direction of captain Hans Ferdinand Andersen. The training ship was lost suddenly in December 1928 while sailing in clear weather from Buenos Aires to Melbourne, Australia. In those days two models were made, one for the shipyard and the other for the nautical college. This model hails from the former nautical college and is professionally made. It’s in excellent condition and shows many nice details. Length 87 cm. Breadth 28 cm. Height 45 cm.
